The Finished Nursery.

The slipcover that I ordered over three months ago for the rocking chair finally arrived and now the nursery is complete! It is a motley of things and I think pictures make it look even more so but I am very happy with the result and I love to go sit in Rivers' room and daydream about rocking her and playing with her in such a bright and happy space. Later this week it won't be just a dream but a reality as I am getting induced tomorrow!

Just a Friday night.

Baby Shower #2

Oh my goodness, what a blessed little baby Rivers is! My lovely sisters-in-la, Jackie & Marley threw the most beautiful baby shower! The baby shower was held at my house and kind of doubled as a housewarming/baby shower/come view the nursery party. Marley and Jackie made stuffed animals for Rivers that doubled as table decorations and everything was just so darling. And the food! Moo Creamery catered and the cinnamon rolls and quiche were so delicious I could have eaten for days! In fact, there were left overs so I really did eat for days.

40.

40 inches. That is the current size of my waist right now. This poor baby is running out of room as I can feel an elbow and a kneecap at all times on my stomach. Just three more weeks and she will be here!!!

Moustachio

Dave and I had our 3rd of 5 baby classes last night. The lady who teaches them is a real bore but thankfully we have some friends in the class which helps to make the time pass quickly. Last night we were practicing our breathing for pushing. She went into detail about how the doctor might want you to stop pushing and may use any sort of keyword to signal so, including the word "ok" (how confusing is that? i would probably keep pushing through the word ok). She stated how the ladies wouldn't be able to really register that they need to stop pushing because they are in the moment so it's the partners job to give us a signal that helps us to stop and start breathing differently. The signal is for the partner to place his index finger on the mother's chin. She had us practice this using all sorts of different keywords and she'd give the partners a hard time if they took too long. Well Dave was really trying to do a good job and get his index finger on my chin as fast as he could. The teacher must have caught him offguard at one point because he hesitated before throwing his index finger hurriedly underneath my nose, giving me the classic moustache face. I laughed the hardest I have laughed in a long time which was fun because my belly really shook.

Baby Shower

Four generations of ladies pictured.

Theta Aunties.

The Bubs, Ralpherson and I in the unfinished nursery. I will post pictures when complete!

My sweet cousin Katharine and Aunt Cindy threw me a lovely baby shower last Saturday. This little baby is so blessed! So many wonderful friends travelled in from out of town to be there. I can't even handle all the cuteness that is baby girl clothing. The socks are extra hard to resist. I haven't been around many newborns so I just can't believe that a human being really wears a sock that small. So excited to put some socks on a chubby pair of baby feet - even though it is looking like she won't really be that chubby. At our lastest ultrasound they guessed she would weigh in around 7 lbs 6 ounces when she is born and we already know that she is super long as her legs are measuring two weeks ahead of the rest of her body. She's going to be a skinny little thing but I will do my part to plump her up fast.

2010 What a Mighty Year

2010 has been a whirlwind of a year. My husband and I laugh because a year ago we were freshly engaged and planning a wedding for July of 2010. If you would have told us that by July 2010 we would have a dog, already be married, have bought a new house and be 5 months pregnant with our first baby we would have called your bluff. And we would have lost. It has been a monumentous year to say the least but we feel so blessed to call this life our own.
I have fought the urge to create a blog for about 4 years and now that we are under 6 weeks away from welcoming our baby girl into the world, I realized what a great source of baby documentation a blog could be. I want to savor every second of this crazy journey that our little Bynum Family is about to begin.
